West Ealing Youth Found Guilty of Cookie Murder

Vulnerable man in his forties left dead after unprovoked attack

A WEST Ealing teen was found guilty of attacking and murdering a man in his forties in an unprovoked attack.

Eighteen year old Daryl O'Connor of Peal Gardens W13, beat Tarsen Nahar to death in April 2007 and his body was found in a house in College Way, Hayes.

Known to his friends as "Cookie", Mr Nahar, 44, was known as a street drinker who regularly went to Uxbridge.

He suffered a subdural haemorrhage in the attack, which appears to have had no motive.

O'Connor had assaulted Mr Nahar two weeks before the murder, again without provocation.

O'Connor was found guilty of murder and actual bodily harm at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, and is due to be sentenced on Wednesday, July 16.

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Tim Dobson, from the Met's Homicide and Serious
Crime Command said: "This was an unprovoked attack on an innocent man. Tarsen Nahar aka Cookie was well known as one of the 'street drinkers' that frequented the area.

Mr O'Connor's actions showed his total disregard for this vulnerable section of the community. This verdict reinforces the MPS'scommitment to protecting all members of society regardless of their background. On behalf ofthe family and investigating team I would like to thank the witness's who came forward on Cookies behalf."
