Tell Ealing Council What You Think

'Future Roadshow' takes place at local festivals this summer

Senior Ealing council officers will be swapping their offices for tents to talk to residents about the financial state of the authority and future plans for the borough.

Visitors to various summer events across the borough are being invited to the 'Talk Future Ealing' tent where they will find information on what the council describe as its 'transformation programme', as well as details regarding the current financial situation.

People will have the chance to discuss the plans with senior officers from the council, as well as local councillors and members of the council’s cabinet who will be in the Talk Future Ealing tent throughout the day.

Talk Future Ealing will be at the following events between 12-6pm:

  • Greenford Carnival, Ravenor Park, Saturday, 30 June
  • Acton Carnival, Acton Park, Saturday, 14 July
  • Ealing Jazz Festival, Walpole Park, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 July
  • Southall Mela, Southall Park, Sunday 19 August

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of the council, said, “We are ambitious for Ealing and our Future Ealing programme aims to make the borough a better place to live and work. However, like all local authorities, there is no getting away from the reality of the incredibly challenging financial situation we find ourselves in. Over this decade our government funding will have been cut by 64% and demand for services has never been higher. Last year, two thirds of our budget went on caring for vulnerable adults and children alone.

“Our Talk Future Ealing roadshow is designed to show residents how we plan to keep improving local services, but also to let them see the financial picture for themselves. We also want to build on the inspiring work that is already going on in the community by encouraging residents to do something good for their community.

“Many local people are already acting to improve where they live by doing things like recycling more, litter picking, cycling or walking on short journeys or becoming a school governor. I am looking forward to talking to residents about the many different ways they can make a difference locally and how they can do something good for Ealing, as well as give them a chance to promote their local group or initiative.”

Residents that are unable to attend one of the events can look at Talk Future Ealing online and share their ideas by going to www.ealing.gov.uk/futureealing .
