Council Revenues Team Scoops Top Award

Praised for strong customer focus

Ealing Council has scooped another prestigious award after its Revenues Service was named Team of the Year by the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation.

The team received its prize at a gala awards dinner in Bournemouth on Thursday 1 October, hosted by GMTV’s Andrew Castle.

The service was nominated for its strong customer focus, 24-hour telephone line, comprehensive online services and prompt billing. It was also the first revenues team in the country to receive three Charter Marks, which are awarded by the Government in recognition of excellent public services.

The council beat off stiff competition from Scottish authority Dumfries and Galloway Council, which was highly commended.

Executive Director of Corporate Resources, Ian O’Donnell, said: ”The team has worked tremendously hard and I’m really proud of their achievements, particularly their customer focus. Their work makes a real difference to the council because they do everything they can to chase people who owe council tax and businesses rates, but also ensure they are on hand to give advice to those having difficulty paying.”

Ealing Council was already named Best Achieving Council 2009 in the Municipal Journal Awards and this year received the top, four stars and improving strongly rating from the Audit Commission.
