A group of Irish musicians have recorded a new version of the famous Band Aid song 'Do They Know It's Christmas.'

Calling themselves 'The Ginger Melodeon Experience'  and sponsored by The West Bar in Greenford the group are raising money for St Lukes Hospice in Harrow.

The original song was produced by Midge Ure and released on 29 November 1984 in aid of Ethiopian famine relief. This version - with its unique Irish feel - was the idea of BibleCode Sundays bass player Enda Mulloy and singer Ronan MacManus. It's already raised over a thousand pounds for the hospice.

Enda says: "Ronan and I were talking about the original 'Do they know it's Christmas' video and how much craic they must have had doing it, and we thought it'd be a great to do an Irish version for charity. So the next day I wrote up a recording plan, asked all the musicians I had in
mind, I asked Michael Gallagher in the West bar to sponsor the project, and that was
that!

''Ronan booked the studio for the 20th when the Mulloy Brothers were in London,
and we booked a friend of ours, Ryan Dick, who works as a camera man and editor to
film the event. 'Everyone who took part put 100% into it and it was a real laugh doing it. It also
highlighted to me the quality of musicianship around the Irish music scene, as the
recording went seamlessly.''
