Will be at the cost of a reduction in frequency of 207 buses

Transport for London is set to increase the number of express SL8 buses running along Uxbridge Road from early April, while reducing the frequency of the stopping-service 207 after a review of passenger demand.
From Saturday 4 April, the SL8, part of the Mayor of London’s Superloop network of limited-stop routes which used to be the 607, will run every eight minutes instead of every ten during the busiest weekday periods. TfL says the change reflects strong and growing demand for faster orbital journeys between Shepherds Bush and Uxbridge.
The uplift will apply on weekdays from first bus until 8.15pm, and on Saturdays between 10am and 7pm. At other times, including Sundays, the SL8 will run every ten minutes rather than every twelve.
However, the improvements come alongside, what is described as a small reduction in the frequency of the 207, the long-established stopping service that mirrors much of the SL8 route. The 207 will shift from running every six minutes to every seven or eight minutes between White City bus station and Hayes By-Pass. Evening, Saturday and Sunday services will move to a ten-minute interval, compared with eight minutes at present.
TfL says the change reflects updated modelling of passenger flows, with the express SL8 now carrying a significant share of longer-distance trips along the corridor. The authority argues that the revised timetable will “better match capacity to demand” while still maintaining a high-frequency service on one of London’s busiest bus corridors.
The reduction means passengers using the 207 may wait up to two minutes longer at stops during peak times. TfL has emphasised that it will continue to monitor usage and “tweak the timetable again” if demand increases.
The SL8, launched in 2023 as part of the Superloop network, has quickly become one of the most heavily used express routes in outer London. It provides faster journeys by stopping only at key interchanges, including Acton, Ealing Broadway, Southall and Uxbridge. TfL says the route has helped relieve pressure on the 207 and 427, particularly during peak hours.
Local reaction is likely to be mixed. Passengers who rely on the SL8 for longer trips may welcome the increased frequency, while those who depend on the 207 for shorter, local journeys could be concerned about slightly longer waits. TfL maintains that overall capacity on the corridor will remain high and that the changes will improve reliability across both services.
The new timetable will come into effect on 4 April, with updated service information available on TfL’s website and at bus stops along the route.
