Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts was among a select crowd of onlookers as a blue plaque was unveiled to mark 50 years since the founding of the famed Ealing Club.

The club, situated opposite Ealing Broadway Station, pioneered blues music in Britain. It was where the founding  members of the Stones met and played together for the first time in April 1962.  Also in attendance at Saturday's ceremony were broadcaster "Whispering" Bob Harris and former rocker, now radio presenter Tom Robinson.

Others who played at the club founded by British blues pioneer Alexis Korner in 1962 include Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend, Rod Stewart and John Mayall.  

The premises, located at 42A the Broadway, under an estate agents, is still an night club to this day, currently called the Red Room.
