Time to Get On Your Bike

For National Bike Week

A series of free guided rides will take place in Ealing on Sunday, 23 June, 2013 to celebrate National Bike Week.

The Ticket to Ride event is open to cyclists of all levels, including less confident riders and families. Ride marshals will lead groups on an 11 mile route along roads, the canal towpath and through parks, taking in the borough’s sights while building cyclists’ confidence.

Guided rides will leave Gunnersbury and Brent Lodge parks in Acton and Hanwell on the hour from 10am until 4pm. Each ride is expected to take two to three hours to complete with breaks along the way. Cyclists can choose to ride only part of the route if they prefer.

Dr Bike cycle bike health checks will be available at both parks and there will also be information about Ealing’s cycling activities and training.

Keen cyclist and cabinet member for environment and transport, Bassam Mahfouz will be taking part. He said: “We want to get more people cycling in Ealing. It promises to be a great day out for all the family and offers to boost cyclists' confidence by showing them an easy and enjoyable way to keep fit and help them feel safer when they're on the road."
