Nearly Forty Cars in West London Job Convoy

Just under forty cars and vans took part in the Jobs Convoy organised by Unite Community and Ealing Trade Union Council this Tuesday (20 October).

The ‘highly visible drive’ protesting for the Right to Work in a decent job departed from Southall at 10am after short rally was held in a car park and posters were attached to participating cars.

The convoy then proceeded to Heathrow via Ealing, Chiswick and Brentford. The procession halted near Heathrow airport at the Bedfont and Feltham Football Club. Once the convoy has reassembled it the headed off for a final trip around the Heathrow Perimeter Road.

Oliver New, Secretary of Ealing TUC said, " As another million jobs are threatened, people in West London who saw the convoy pass were left in no doubt that anger is rising about the treatment of workers and less well-off.

“We're still a rich country and there's no reason workers should be jobless or children hungry when there's a huge need for socially useful work.

“We firmly believe this country can both keep everyone safe and looked after if we put people before profits.”
