Westbound 'on' slip and northbound West Cross Route shut until October

Transport for London (TfL) is warning of continued traffic congestion across west London as work proceeds near the Westway Roundabout.

Since 21 July the eastbound ‘off’ slip and southbound West Cross Route have been closed to allow for the replacement of 4 expansion joints that are a critical part of the structure.

The work was paused during the Notting Hill Carnival but from Monday 2 September, the second phase of the project begins which will see the westbound 'on' slip from the A3220 West Cross Route to the A40 Westway via the Westway Roundabout.

In addition, the northbound carriageway of the A3220 West Cross Route from Holland Park Roundabout to the Westway Roundabout will be shut.

This means that you will not be able to get to the A3220 West Cross Route or the A40 Westway travelling north from Holland Park Roundabout and the junction with Uxbridge Road.

It will be still possible to drive to Westfield White City via Wood Lane but is expected to be extremely busy.

The southbound A3220 West Cross Route and off slips from the A40 Westway will be reopened.

TfL is advising that there will be delays on these roads: Uxbridge Road, Holland Road, Holland Park Avenue, Goldhawk Road, northbound approaches to Wood Lane.

In addition, congestion is expected for traffic seeking to join the A40 and motorists are advised to either travel up the A4 and then around the North Circular Road or join via junction 3 of the M4 and the A312 Parkway.

Buses that are likely to be affected by delays are 7, 31, 49, 70, 72, 94, 95, 148, 207, 220, 226, 237, 260, 272, 283, 295, 316, 607, C1.

TfL currently expects the work to be completed by mid-October.
