Morning of Chaos Ahead on Tubes and Trains

District Line Engineering works overrun. Signal failure on South West Trains

Significant problems are expected today (24 July) on public transport with both underground services and South West Trains experiencing significant problems.

District line

On the District line Transport for London has failed to complete planned engineering works at Earls Court this weekend.

There will be cancellations, meaning trains will be more crowded. Certain services will operate differently. There will be no direct service from Wimbledon to Edgeware Road. Change at Earls Court or Gloucester Road. Some Ealing Broadway services will run to Edgeware Road.

Severe delays are also occurring on the Hammersmith & City and Circle lines.

South West Trains

On South West Trains there was a complete failure of all signalling in the Earlsfield area around 4am this morning. Engineers have been working on the issue and signalling has now returned however they are continuing to monitor the affected area in case of any further signalling failure.

They are now working to introduce a few trains back into circulation around the network however, they continue to strongly advise you not to travel towards London Waterloo until after 9am.

A queueing system may be implemented at your local station. Some trains, may be altered or revised at short notice and some trains may also be diverted via alternative routes. Your ticket should be accepted on any reasonable route. Your travel documents and tickets for travel dated 24 July 2017 will be valid on 25 July 2017.
