Prevent - Counter Terrorism Strategy in Ealing

Public meeting to find out more

The Metropolitan Police Service and Ealing Council are working closely with our partners under the Prevent Strategy to stop people on Ealing borough from becoming or supporting violent extremists.

Prevent is a counter terrorism strategy. The work entails helping vulnerable people so that they do not get caught up in violent extremism. Prevent also helps bring different communities together making it difficult for violent extremists to spread their destructive messages.

The aim of Prevent is to help people and prevent them from being drawn into violence. Police want to tackle hate crime and victimization, which may cause a person to feel vulnerable. We want to help unite communities against those who cause harm.

If you would like to voice your views or would like to hear what the Ealing Borough Police Prevent strategy is doing to promote community cohesion, please come along on Tuesday 9th of November 2010 at 7pm to the Queens Hall at Ealing Town Hall New Broadway Ealing W5 2BY.

All members of the community are welcome to attend a Prevent presentation. This will consist of a short presentation looking at the aims of the prevent agenda, followed by updates by two organisations funded by the local authority to carry out this work.

This is great opportunity for Ealing to showcase some of the good work taking place in your area and address any misconceptions of the agenda. Residents will also be given the chance to openly air their personal views and concerns to a panel of Senior Police officers and local authority representatives responsible in this field.
