The 2005 Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race is scheduled to start from Putney at 3pm. This year both teams feature returning Olympians and the competition should be closer than ever with Oxford ready to battle Cambridge and take revenge after their controversial defeat in 2004 over clashing oars.

The fun event, in its second year, will take place on the banks of the River Thames at Dukes Meadow, Riverside Drive next to Chiswick Bridge.   As part of the entertainments they will set up a giant TV screen for s pectators to enjoy the thrilling 151 st boat race.   Once the crews appear from under Barnes Bridge Railway spectators will turn to the riverside to watch the exciting final moments of the race live at the finish line .   The fun day will cater for whole family with many children's entertainers present including Rhubarb the Clown, Great Custardo from the Circus Workshop, Stilt Walkers and a Fire Eater. Public facilities will also be available this year.

The free event will commence at midday with hot food and drinks available to purchase, giving spectators a chance to have lunch before the crowds arrive.   This international sporting event attracts thousands of people who line the banks of the river to give their support.   400 million people in over 150 countries also watch the event live on television.

Public transport is the best way to travel to the event at Dukes Meadows; train to Mortlake, Chiswick or Barnes Bridge from Waterloo, the London Underground District Line to Kew Gardens, or the 109 or 209 bus.   CIP's staff recommends spectators should arrive in plenty of time as the finish line gets very busy.
