Ealing's Christmas and New Year Refuse Collections
Ealing Council has changed its schedule for the collection of refuse and recycling from people’s homes over the Christmas and New Year period.
The changes affect the period Monday 25 December 2006 to Sunday 7 January 2007. Residents’ normal collection schedule will return on Monday 8 January 2007.

COLLECTIONS RETURN TO NORMAL |
|
Saturday collections will not be affected. Refuse should be left at the front of the property, not on the pavement, by 7.00am and recycling by 7.30am on the allocated collection day.
Residents are reminded that they can now add cardboard to their green box, making it even easier to recycle cardboard boxes and packages from Christmas gifts.
Flattened boxes and household cardboard packaging, egg boxes and greeting cards will be accepted. While shiny cardboard is acceptable, for example cereal boxes, cartons for drinks and liquids, including soup, are not. Residents are asked to keep cardboard separate from paper using a carrier bag, to break up large items and remove any tape that may be stuck to the cardboard. Larger cardboard items may be collected by a different vehicle at a different time on the normal collection day.
The council’s re-use and recycling centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Normal opening hours (8.00am – 4.00pm) apply on all other days over the Christmas and New Year period. Please note that the weighbridge closes at 3.30pm.
These are at Stirling Road, Acton, Gordon Road, Southall and Greenford Road, Greenford.
On the 27, 28 and 29 December from 9.00am to 4.00pm, the council’s telephone contact centre for refuse and recycling enquiries is open. Residents should ring 020 8825 6000.
The council’s ‘How to Bin It’ refuse and recycling consultation will continue throughout the festive season. Residents who have not yet completed the questionnaire are urged to do so by Wednesday 3 January. They are available at local libraries or by logging on to the council’s website www.ealing.gov.uk.
Ensuring refuse and recycling is collected over the holiday period is part of the council’s cleaner streets priority.
