An Ealing detective sergeant has been found not guilty of actual bodily harm.

On 16 June 2016, DS Alistair Stillgoe, 46, had a fight with a man at a bar in Triangle Court on Redcross Way in Southwark. 

The fight resulted in the man sustaining an injury to his mouth.

The criminal allegation was investigated by Southwark CID and led to the officer being cautioned and interviewed on 5 July 2016. DS Stillgoe received his charge via post on 28 October 2016.

The trial began at Southwark Crown Court on Monday, 3 March. On 5 April the jury found DS Stillgoe not guilty of assault.

The officer has been placed on restricted duties and an internal misconduct review will take place.
