The organisers of parkrun events across the UK are set to make an announcement on progress towards a resumption of the weekly 5km runs including those at Gunnersbury and Osterley Park.

Issues with landholding permissions has delayed the restart of the events for which three million people are registered to take part in across England and 300,000 turn up for each week but it is hoped they can resume later this month.

The Gunnersbury Park run was attracting over 600 participants before the pandemic struck.

In a statement parkrun said, “We have been working hard with our various stakeholders to improve the percentage [of landowner permission] to great success, and we remain positive for the new restart date of Saturday 26 June, a decision on which will be made on Friday 11 June.”

Junior parkrun events have already resumed across the UK.
