Police Issue Dispersal Notice for Gunnersbury Park Festival Crowds

Seeking to minimise anti-social behaviour after end of event

The police have instituted a Section 35 Dispersal Zone around Gunnersbury Park in order to reduce the amount of anti-social behaviour around the park after the end of the Lovebox and Citadel festivals.

Section 35 of the Antisocial Behaviour, Police and Crime Act 2014 allows a police officer of at least the rank of Inspector to authorise a dispersal zone for up to 48 hours. The current Section 35 authority has been granted by Chief Inspector Corbin.

The Section 35 dispersal power is in place from 12:00 on Friday 12 July to 11:59pm on Sunday 14 July.

Once authorised, a constable in uniform may, under certain circumstances, direct a person to leave the area, in whole or in part, and direct the person not to return for up to 48 hours.

There were some incidents of anti-social behaviour last year from festival goers leaving the event and problems with public transport did lead to delays in people leaving the area on the final Sunday when the tube service at Acton Town was out of service.
