Gunnersbury Park and Museum 'Summer Lates' Continues

Next up marking Pride weekend with Go West! and a Freddie Mercury tribute act

Go West!

This summer Gunnersbury Park and Museum is hosting its first ever “Lates” events. After the first event earlier this month, during the evenings of, 5 July and 2 August visitors will be treated to an array of themed activities as well as being able to enjoy the recently restored buildings and parkland as the sun goes down.

From drag kings to botanical mixology, these events are sure to cast Gunnersbury and its intriguing history in a whole new light.
The season kicked off with Princess Amelia’s Summer Ball – a unique take on Gunnersbury’s Georgian heyday.

Up next on Friday 5 July Gunnersbury marks Pride weekend with its Go West! Late. Visitors can discover how the museum is building a new collection to preserve and share LGBTQ+ histories and join Rainbow Pilgrims to explore the stories of LGBTQ+ migrants in the UK. Music comes courtesy of Unskinny Bop DJs plus there’ll be cutting edge queer performances including a drag king tribute to west London’s very own Freddie Mercury. Tickets £6.

Closing the 2019 season is The Hothouse Late on Friday 2 August which celebrates all things botanical. Beer tasting, mixology masterclasses, paper flower making workshops and fabulous floral makeovers from Face Florals will all pay homage to the natural world. Then as the sun sets, Head Gardener Chris Ellis will lead a walk to reveal the exotic, weird and wonderful legacy of Gunnersbury’s hothouses. Thanks to Ealing Eclectic MusicSpace, some of west London’s finest musicians including Azadeh and Michele Stodart (The Magic Numbers) will be providing very special acoustic performances. Tickets £10 including a welcome drink.
