Gunnersbury Park campaign gains momentum

Mary Macleod and Angie Bray Reaffirm their Support

Local MP Mary Macleod and Angie Bray, MP for Ealing, met with local residents in Parliament yesterday to discuss progress on the campaign to restore Gunnersbury Park. Present at the meeting were James Wisdom, Chairman of Friends of Gunnersbury Park and Marie Rabouhans, of West Chiswick and Gunnersbury Society Management Committee. They discussed the continuing attempts to raise the money needed to restore Gunnersbury Park and the two mansions along with their outbuildings.

Although Hounslow Council has responsibility for the day to day management of the Park, the ownership is shared jointly by both Hounslow and Ealing Council. As a result, Mary and Angie are working together and lending their support to the campaign.

The Chairman of Friends of Gunnersbury Park briefed both MPs on the campaign which seeks to persuade the Heritage Lottery Fund to resource the refurbishment programme. The Group is hopeful that they will be successful, although they won’t know until next summer.

After the meeting, Mary and Angie endorsed the efforts of the groups involved saying:

“We totally support their campaign to win funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. This approach is far preferable to getting in developers to build in some of the park, and we will do everything we can to support them.”
