The council is holding dog ownership information events across the borough aimed at tackling dog-related anti social behaviour and crime in the borough.

The events are aimed at anyone who already owns a dog, or is thinking of buying one. The council, police and animal specialists will be offering residents advice and information on how to care for pets and owners will be offered free identification micro-chipping.

Dates for the roadshows: All events will be held from 12pm until 5pm.

Councillor Ranjit Dheer, cabinet member for Community Services and Safety, said: “We want to encourage dog owners to be responsible and keep their dogs protected. We will continue to clampdown on irresponsible dog owners or anyone using their dogs to commit anti-social behaviour.”

The council launched ‘Dog Watch’ earlier this year, urging residents to contact them about dog-related anti-social behaviour, helping council and police officers to respond to issues as quickly as possible.

The free identification microchips will help the council and police identify the owners of dogs who might have been abandoned or involved in anti-social behaviour, making it easier to take enforcement action.

The council’s community safety team is working with RSPCA, Dogs Trust, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and Police colleagues to clampdown on irresponsible dog owners.
