Man charged but five puppies still missing

Police have managed to trace two of the seven puppies stolen from a local pet shop. Following press coverage of the theft two people came forward to say they had bought the stolen dogs

It transpired that the callers had both purchased puppies, independently, from a black male in the Hanwell area.

A 25 year old female from Cambridge Road, Hanwell received an Adult Caution for Handling Stolen Goods. The female received the caution as she admitted to purchasing the puppy with the knowledge that it may have been stolen.

No action was taken against a second member of the public who purchased a puppy not knowing that it had been stolen.

Police are still appealling for the help of the general public in the hope of locating five dogs from a total of nine which were stolen from a pet shop in Greenford Avenue, Silvester's Premier Puppies Pet shop, on Monday 28th August.

At around quarter to 10 on the evening of 28th August 2006 a suspect broke into pet shop and stole nine Staffordshire bull terrier puppies, two boxes of electronic dog microchip tags, a gun used for inserting the tags, a tag reader, ten staff dog harnesses and miscellaneous aquarium equipment.

The incident was captured on CCTV from the shop and a suspect was identified. On Tuesday 31st August a man was arrested at Tees Court, Hanway Road, Hanwell. A search of the address recovered one of the stolen puppies, which has now been reunited with the pet shop owner. He admitted to police entering the pet shop and stealing 3 puppies but denied stealing the remaining 6 puppies, electronic dog equipment or aquarium equipment. 

One of the stolen puppies was returned to the petshop on 30th August by the landlord of the White Hart, only a few doors from the petshop. Kelly was in the White Hart Pub with the puppy; the landlord recovered it and restored it to the shop.

A total of five puppies are still missing and are best described as being a tan / red colour with some traces of white.

35 year old Jason Kelly of Grosvenor Road, Hanwell, W7 was charged on 1st September with the burglary and theft of 3 of the puppies. He pleaded guilty at Ealing Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody for sentencing on 26th September.
