Changes To Ealing Council Services


Seasonal alterations in a variety of departments

There will be changes to some Ealing Council services over Christmas 2019 and New Year 2020.

Rubbish and recycling collection days will change over the holiday period.  Check here

Collections will return to normal on Monday, 13 January 2020.

The council’s re-use and recycling centres will be open as usual from 8am-4pm, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

The customer service centre at Perceval House, 14-16 Uxbridge Road, will be closed to visitors from 5pm on Tuesday, 24 December and reopen on Thursday, 2 January 2020.

Residents can report issues via www.ealing.gov.uk/reportit or use the  love clean streets app. 

Services available 24/7 for emergencies only are:

  • Automated parking line: 020 8825 6565
  • Services for homeless people and their families or those threatened with home loss: 020 8825 8881/8888.
  • Children and adults’ social care: 020 8825 8000.
  •  Tenants requiring emergency housing repairs: 020 8825 5682 or 0800 181744.

Most libraries will close at 4pm on Tuesday, 24 December and reopen at 10am on Thursday, 2 January 2020.

However, Hanwell, West Ealing, Perivale and Greenford libraries will close at 5pm on Saturday, 21 December.  Residents are advised to check the library information on the council's website where details will be updated as they become available.

Pitshanger library will also close at 5pm on Saturday 21 December.  Positive discussions are ongoing to turn Pitshanger into a community managed library. Find out more at www.ealingnewsextra.co.uk/features/community-libraries  

Library users can access the 24/7 online library service to renew and manage their library account. 

All council car parks and pay and display bays will offer free parking on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.  Visitor parking in resident bays within Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) will also be free on those days.  Normal parking restrictions will apply on all other days.

Apart from Christmas Day, motorists are reminded that bus lanes, moving violation and parking restrictions on double yellow lines, loading bays and parking in other places where parking is prohibited remain in operation throughout the festive period.

The noise response team will be operating a service to deal with noise nuisance complaints. However, there will be no service on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Years Day and varying hours on other days.  Contact them on 020 8825 8111.

Teams will be on standby to grit roads across the borough if required.

The borough’s sports and leisure centres will be open at different hours over Christmas.
