Great Year For Toy Appeal

Ealing Council helps to make Christmas Special for those at a disadvantage

Staff at Ealing Council are helping to make Christmas special for more than a hundred disadvantaged children as part of a 'Secret Santa' toy appeal.

Staff have donated toys and presents which will go to more than 130 children who will spend this Christmas in one of the borough's hostels. A Christmas party has also been arranged by the council's hostels team with food, games and a special guest appearance from Father Christmas himself. The party food has been donated and catered for by a local chef and resident, Chef Gos.

Councillor Hitesh Tailor, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "Christmas can be a stressful time for many parents, but is especially tough on small children living away from their family and friends. This Christmas present appeal is something council staff do every year, and as always we are overwhelmed by their generosity.

Herjender Gosal (Gos), head chef at Fresh N Funky catering, added: "It's really heart-warming that even in these tough economic times people do not forget what's important. Their generosity has made sure that all the children will have a present to open on Christmas morning. I am just pleased to have been able to do my bit."

The toys will be delivered to children across the borough's eight hostels on Friday, 21 December.
