Police Warn of ' Conman' Beggar

Reports that Darren Bingham has been operating in the local area

Police have issued a warning about a persistent beggar who appears to be operating in the local neighbourhood.

They advise the public not to give money to him and to inform them if approached.

Darren Bingham

Darren Bingham is reportedly knocking on doors - sometimes very late at night - making various claims and asking for money.

Previous warnings have been given about him dating back to 2013. At that time the police described him as a conman who preyed on often vulnerable victims to feed his drug habit despite being placed under an Anti-Social Behaviour Order. He was accused of inventing stories about needing money to help sick relatives.

He was given a five-year antisocial behaviour order in May 2012, banning him from knocking on doors or begging in a public place.

Any suspicious activity can be reported to police on the non-emergency number 101.
