Local PC to take a passage to India


Catherine Saunders plans epic bike ride for the VSO

Pc Catherine Saunders, South Acton Safer Neighbourhoods Team, Ealing Borough Police is planning to take part in a charity a bike ride early next year to raise money for the Volunteer Services Overseas (VSO).

The charity bike ride will cover over 400km from Bharatpur-Deeg-Nagar to Sikar in India between 26th February and 3rd March 2006.

Pc Saunders has paid a £200 registration fee and booked Annual Leave to take part in this event. She needs to raise a minimum of £2500 by 10th December 2005 to enable her to take her place in this very exciting trip. Family, friends, work colleagues, local residents and businesses in Ealing Borough have already donated some cash to this very worthy charity.

Staff and customers from The Redback public house in Acton, West London have donated £150 and £255 respectively. At present Catherine has successfully raised £1500 and now requires your help to help her reach her target of £2,500.

VSO is a leading development charity with almost 2,000 skilled professionals currently working in over 40 countries. VSO's unique approach to international development is founded on volunteers, working together and with local communities to fight poverty and achieve lasting change. The Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) are involved in projects all around the world in various third world countries, where there projects help to assist the disabled, HIV and AIDS sufferers in various regions.

They also have volunteers currently helping the Sri Lankan, Indonesian and Maldives areas recently hit by a Tsunami in December 2004.
