There are fears that the Italian restaurant chain Carluccio’s will be among the first high-street casualties of the coronavirus shutdown.

Carluccio’s began life in 1991 when Antonio and Priscilla Carluccio opened a food shop in Neal Street, bringing regional Italian food to the capital. It currently has 73 restaurants around Britain and employs around 2,000 people, 19 branches are are in London including branches in Putney, Wimbledon and Ealing. They are all closed due to Covid-19 .

When the chain had to follow Government guidance and close the doors due to coronavirus, the employees had been advised that this month they would only receive 50% of their wages, but now administration looks a possibility after the company appointed FRP Advisory on Friday who said that they are: "working with the directors of Carluccio’s to consider all options for the company in the current climate”.

In 2018 the company closed 34 of its restaurants as it underwent a Company’s Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) restructuring deal in a bid to secure its future.
