Bees fail to sting

Brentford 0 - 0 Scunthorpe

Uwe Rosler's team lacked cutting edge in Saturday's 0-0 home draw with Scunthorpe

The visitors had the best of the early chances with Richard Lee saving from a close range header and one of Scunthorpe's identikit cloggers volleying over while well placed.

The Bees threatened rarely with a mazy run and long range effort from Niall McGinn a rare first class highlight. Toumani Diagouraga, who had looked fairly bright, left the pitch injured on the half hour mark.

Brentford offered a little more attacking endeavour after the break with McGinn and Weston causing panic when taking on their opponents with the ball but the final pass was always slightly lacking as Uwe's men appeared not to want to commit to getting into the box.

David Clarkson headed wide from close range after a smart Woodman cross as the Bees wasted the few chances they did create.

The visitors were reduced to ten men when fouling fullback Wright forced the powderpuff referee into showing him a second yellow but Brentford did very little to make their extra man show, preferring instead to pass the ball aimlessly around at the back prior to Miguel Llera hoofing it forwards.

Uwe's team still have an awful lot to prove at home with most supporters leaving the ground frustrated at a lack of tenacity and endeavour from Brentford.
