Kim Ismay returns to the Tabard this month for five performances of her hit one woman musical About Bill. Written by Matthew Strachan and Bernie Gaughan, About Bill is the follow up to their first musical Next Door’s Baby which was revived at the Tabard in May 2023 to audience and critical acclaim. Directed by Keith Strachan, this is another chance to experience the brilliance of this show, following its debut at the Tabard last August.

“The show’s a triumph – with Kim Ismay, a brilliant actor and singer using all the skills at her command – and the kind you can’t leave without grinning and humming at least one of the unknown but cleverly familiar tunes from six decades.”
London Pub Theatres ★★★★★ – Winner of a Standing Ovation Award

“The show is a perfect mix of monologue and music. You’ll be enthralled. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry. You’ll want more.”
Spy in the Stalls ★★★★★

“A refreshing musical romp of a show”
ChiswickW4.com

“All of the creatives involved in this, writer, music and lyricist, and Kim Ismay herself have wide and deserved West End success. And the recently reinvented Tabard Theatre in Chiswick is bringing top class theatre to West London. This production only cements all of these reputations. At 75 minutes it’s an easy and engrossing watch and thoroughly enjoyed by the first night audience who gave it a standing ovation.”
Mark Aspen Reviews ★★★★

“Her speaking and singing voices are a delight to listen to… and the production as a whole has plenty of passion and heart.”

About Bill is a show entirely about the fictional Bill, although we never meet him. Instead, we hear from all of the women in his life. Some loved him, others fled from him. All were affected by Bill Fitzgerald, the legendary swashbuckling jazz trumpeter.

From the journalist who can’t help but be affected by his charm, to the addict lover who blames him for everything, all the women in Bill’s life show us a different aspect of this talented, complicated man as the score takes us on a musical tour of the song styles of Bill’s long life.

And all the while Aunty Dot looks on. She raised him when his mother couldn’t and loved him with the same ferocity as she despairs about his behaviour. Sternly moral, outspoken, and hilarious, she has much to say About Bill.

Starring Kim Ismay who is well known to London Theatreland and has starred in countless West End and national tour productions including Wicked, Mamma Mia, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Saturday Night Fever, Acorn Antiques, Singing In The Rain, Lautrec, The Rocky Horror Show as well as appearing in numerous TV dramas.

Directed by Keith Strachan, who has worked extensively in theatre and television as director, musical director, arranger and composer. Keith’s theatre credits, as director, include Dreamboats and Miniskirts, Dreamboats and Petticoats, Save The last Dance For Me, Laughter In The Rain, Dancing In The Streets, Elvis The Musical, Can't Smile Without You, Sweet Soul Music, Tommy, Thank You For The Music, and many, many more. His work as musical director and arranger in the West End includes Soul Sister, Good Rockin' Tonite, In The Midnight Hour, Ferry Cross The Mersey, All You Need Is Love, Grease and Let The Good Times Roll.

Keith now regularly directs at the Tabard, with recent popular musicals including Next Door’s Baby and The Lady or The Tiger. Last year Keith won the London Pub Theatre’s Standing Ovation Award for his work directing both About Bill and Next Door’s Baby.
