Shining a Light on Crime in Acton and Southall

More street lighting for hotspots

Grove Passage (near St Mary's burial ground), Horn Lane, Churchfield Road and Bromyard Avenue are all to benefit from improved lighting.

The Council has agreed to spend £103,000 on these areas as well as South Road and King Street in Southall.

The locations were chosen in partnership with the police in an effort to cut down on crime.

Cabinet member for environment and transport, Councillor Bassam Mahfouz said:

'' Improving safety is a priority for Ealing Council and one of resdients key concerns. Good street lighting helps to reduce crime. A polic e sergeant told me that when we improved lighting in his area crime and anti-social behavoir dropped considerably and people felt safer after dark.''

Work will start in May 2013 and be complete by November 2013.
