Apprenticeship Fair A Hit in Acton

Young people find out about work opportunities

Students turned out en masse to hear about apprenticeship opportunities during a lively fair organised by Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College and the local MP.

Nearly thirty employers, each offering at least one apprenticeship opportunity, had stalls at the event and hundreds of young people both from the college and outside found out more about the opportunities on offer.

The event was arranged by the college alongside with the Ealing Central and Acton MP, Angie Bray, and her team.

Stall holders included local employers like LandQ Housing, Lloyds, Hounslow Homes, the NHS, local Army and RAF recruitment teams, the Police and a variety of others all offering chances to learn more about life in the workplace and skills training.

Ms Bray said:

''My team and I were really delighted to be able to partner EHWLC in organising this very successful apprenticeship fair. It was great to see such a variety of apprenticeships on offer and to see so many young people getting round the stalls and finding out more about potential careers and opportunities. The Government is seriously committed to developing apprenticeships as a way forward for young people to get into work, gain confidence and get their feet on the career ladder. The Government intends to create 250,000 new apprenticeships by next election in 2015.''
