New Look Ealing Broadway Plans Revealed
I see that the new plans provide for 4 new lifts, but still no escalators. A lift or two is necessary for the wheelchair bound, disabled, and those with lots of luggage, but lifts are a very slow way of mass transportation of people. The vast majority of passengers need/want to move quickly, which means escalators. I can't see many waiting for lifts unless absolutely necessary and I anticipate that they will be left idle most of the time. If this goes through unchallenged this is a massive opportunity wasted, and there will not be another one for at least 50 years. Ealing Council should be insisting on escalators for the benefit of all residents.
