Well the people of Ealing voted and will get what they deserve. There is no-one else to blame. The latest designs are still poor and myopic. But that is what we have come to expect from such weak and limited imaginations of our elected brethren and some less than sparkling officers. But the designs are also constrained.  With the western boroughs local population expected to rise by 50% plus over the next 15 years, it is quite likely that the District line or the Central line may well be extended underground as the main line will increasingly be utilised for the more distant destinations.Projections already indicate that the Crossrail trains even with 12 cars will be full by Slough and will not offer any more than standing room from Ealing Broadway.Timetables and capacity will be reduced on the existing Paddington services over shared line sections. So capacity could actually drop by 20% within days of the Crossrail services commencing. So it makes sense for the District line to project underground to West Ealing Hanwell and Greenford and the Central line to Norwood Green, Brentford and Kew.Thus E B Stn has to leave space for the probable sites for the lines to go Underground. The District would be a big bore tube rather than cut and cover, same as the Crossrail and central line standard tube.Haven Green would have to be the construction site for some years. For some inexplicable reason, none of this gets openly discussed but the key reason that the station development is so poor is that they know it is likely to be a temporary structure lasting no more than 25 years.
