Parking fines

I wish the Council were as eager to give fines to people who drop litter, let their rubbish bags be savaged by animals and turn a blind eye when they come out of their homes in the morning and find thesaid bags strewn all over the pavement. If you really want to clean up Ealing, stop hounding car drivers and concentrate on some people's filthy habits and selfish behaviour, and fine them when they don't comply.

Spitting, litter-louts and throwing of fag-ends and chewing gum droppings on pavements and other public places I detest.(I'm beginning to sound like Victor Meldrew now, sorry). Enforce the existing bye-laws imo.

Bye-laws for most anti-social habits already exist, some are as old as this town.But they are not enforced. Spitting fines were to prevent the spread TB. Exactly the same reason that it is being re-enforced in other places along with the damage caused by those who chew and spit Paan.There was a time when police would deal with civil and bye law offences and issue fines. Rather like the time that they would place an officer outside schools and also direct traffic.As they do none of this in any form of regularity, maybe it is a good idea to deploy wardens on a broader base rather than solely on motorists purely because by means of a number plate they are soft and easy targets.Litter, Spitting,Cyclists riding too fast on pavements or who are not scooting,chewing gum droppers. All possible.

Sounds like Marie has got a parking fine.  If so, commiserations.  Soon, Council Tax will be abolished and total Council income will be from Civil Enforcement Officers and CPZ's  And yes, now that they are no longer just Traffic Wardens, they could indeed enforce all the other anti-social contraventions so often talked about on this forum.  Further, maybe they could enforce correct conduct and punctuality at the Council Offices.  That would bring in more finance.  There is no end to ideas on how they could extract money from everyone else.

So true and well expressed Marie, rubbish in the roads and streets is disgusting and its about time things are made tough against those careless litter-louts and they're fined heavily.
