UK Economy happy news.

The UK Economy recorded its 5th consecutive quarter's growth and the improvements are steady and sound it seems. We've not quite reached the economic levels from before the financial crisis in 2008, but we're getting there, so I believe. Its good news methinks. I wonder if they'll put interest rates up?

Yes, Tom asks a vital and interesting question. We tend to consume more and more - I wonder when our planet will go bust?

Tom makes a good point but that's the only game in town I'm afraid. Growth = consuming more and more is inevitable whilst we have a growing world population and whilst people across the world become richer, as in China and India, and want to have what we in the West have had for decades. We can faddle about with the margins of the stats. by re-using, expecting and wanting less and by growing our own where we can etc.

Growth is part of evolution and has always been with us Tom and it will continue forever. Growth has to be watched carefully and is here to stay imo. Its also called civilisation.
