Beggars belief

I love the hypocrisy of our 'committed to recycling' council.Just had my copy of Around Ealing. To stop the little recycling leaflet that was enclosed becoming 'lost' the whole thing is wrapped in a plastic bag.Why?

PeterI love freecycle and have passed on loads of stuff.Any  old baths and radiators left over I entrust though to Pikeycycle where a nice man in a white tipper van 'recycles' them from your drive in the middle of the night :-)

Don't forget Freecycle. www.uk.freecycle.orgYou can find multiple homes for furniture, old paving stones, paint, electricals and electronics on the various Freecycle sites around London. The Ealing site is a but tricky: you have to have a Yahoo mail address to interact with it, but Richmond, Hammersmith, Brent, Hounslow, etc. are less snooty and will let you list things to give away (and allow you to put in for the stuff listed) from ANY e-mail account.This system is brilliant. It is designed to stop stuff going to landfill, and believe me someone has a use for anything you do not. Try it! Enjoy the rollercoaster ride.

Having torn off the plastic cover I find that most of the issue is devoted to recycling and the 'leaflet' had the 'offer' of collecting furniture for recycling at £20/visit. Plenty of furniture recyclers will collect it for free.Committed to recycling....my bottom!
