Charlotte's Place moving to Dicken's Yard

Sorry to hear the news that Charlotte's Place on The Common is closing in the Autumn & reopening in the less attractive Dicken's Yard. I guess they've been offered a deal they couldn't refuse.Half of the attraction of the restaurant is the location. Bad move.

Always thought this place to be over-rated or overpriced or both.Lets hope the tastiness of the cuisine excels for once when the new premises open. And lets hope the waiters do not fall all over you in their over invasive efforts to ensure that the OK food is to your liking.its time now for a really outstanding European restaurant in this Borough

No one in their right mind close down a successful business for a minimum of eight months while it is refurbished. One month tops. There is more going on here than meets the eye. Remember, Harlotte's Place is just a name, not a person, it is on its third owner at the moment. There is also Charlotte's Bistro in Chiswick. So my questions are: has there been a change in ownership? And, will Charlotte's Place on Ealing Common re-open or is it just being moth-balled while it is sold as "going concern" - i.e. fully-kitted-out restaurant?

We usually walk, which is maybe 20 minutes. If the weather is very bad then there are always pay-and-display spaces on the Common. In July/August/September, you can park in Elm Grove Road.

Susan, do you walk or take a car to Charlotte's Place? If you motor there, do you find difficulty in finding a convenient and free parking space in that neck'o the woods?

Yes, you've misread the report, Simon. Personally, I love Charlotte's and don't see that it needs a refurb. As for prices, we always go for lunch, having the two- or three-course menu for a set price.

Simon, that's not my interpretation of the closing of Charlotte's Place restaurant. I understand its closing down for refurbishment and opening again at its old Ealing Common location after the refurb.  In addition I understand, a new and sepatate branch will open in Dicken's Yard.  I think Dicken's Yard is a good location for this up-cuisine eatery and should do well imo.We've eaten there a few times(we used to live in St Mark's Raod virtually next door) and no doubting the food is very good, but the prices send shivers up my spine - have you seen the pricey wine list?  That said, its a fine restaurant.

The move will be good for business as it's much easier to get to and not off the beaten track. I've been a couple of times to the current site and hope that the new site will be much more up to date and inviting.

New place at dickens yard is a bar and restaurant,old place is being refurbed not closed down. At least that's what I was told

I thought that the 'move' of this overpriced eaterie was actually a tertiary location while the 'original' was being restored.
