A bird question

OK, here is a question for all the bird watchers.Was watching a Robin hanging around my garden and got thinking, do all birds build nests?What I mean is, both Male and Female birds.  Is it like in humans where perhaps you meet a bloke with his own home and move in? Or do both have their own nests?  What happens if they don't find a mate?  Do they have to live alone in a nest?Then, what happens before they leave the mummy and daddy's nest?  Do they have to spend some time living nestless or do they build one first?

That's my RBS branch Tom and we noticed the pigeon's nest about a month ago - as one goes into the bank you stand a chance of being bombed by pigeons - its a lucky sign being sh*t upon - maybe my overdraft ain't as hugh as I thought!

That the latest nest I saw was a pigeon nest in the RBS sign at EB Shopping Centre (by the 65 bus stop) - right now I think theres a pigeon chick in there. Next time you`re passing, look up! :O)

No Jack, I haven't seen a single swallow or swift yet, although I believe some swifts have been spotted over Hanwell way.

As Jack says, birds only use nests to lay eggs and fledge their young. I think it's usually the female who constructs the nest but different birds have different conventions.ps, nests aren't always in trees or bird boxes. A couple of robins have built their nest under a thick shrub next to my office window; both the male and female are frantically foraging for insects all day long. Poor things must be exhausted!

Birds only use a nest to lay their eggs and raise their young they are not for sleeping in, when they leave the nest they then roost in trees. Gerry Tan have you seen any swallows over Ealing yet ?
