Safer pavements and parks for people

This one beggars belief. Yesterday a company called Primesight that specialises in billboards parked its contractors up on the pavement by the Kujawiak Polish shop on the South Ealing Park opposite the Conservatice Club on what is arguably the busiest narrow bend in Ealing which has been the scene of accidents. They proceeded to spend a few hours in the afternoon anglegrinding down the remains of billboard damaged by the storms to a background of car horns as vehicles coming round the corner were startled to find an unexpected vehicle parked around the corner of the bend. Pedestrians have to dodge between the workmen as they ground away and carrier stuff to and for across the pavement as they demolished the billboard. Ironically, there was an (empty) public car park beside the Kujawiak!

Or indeed to wander around in the middle of moving traffic in the middle of a busy junction without stopping the traffic.

They were putting in a 4 way traffic control on the junction as they were digging up the road for something in the evening.  I drove through it around 10pm.  They would have had a permit for this although why they felt the need to park on the grass is another thing.

Walking back home yesterday evening along Ealing Green I was stunned to see a white car drive straight up onto (what is left of) the grass on Ealing Green by Pitzhanger Manor, even though there was plenty of parking around.The occupant of this vehicle rushed into the middle of the busy junction and started dancing around in the middle of the moving traffic, I think spraying something onto the ground. Health and Safety eat your heart out here!There were no signs, no safety people directing traffic he just ran around in the middle of the traffic. Various vehicles then arrived pulling up all over the place where they should not have.This gentleman was very keen to be photographed and danced around his vehicle blocking the number plate and signs of his vehicle to stop a record being taking to identify these contractors from a liveried truck. He kept asking: “Oy Nutjob what are you photographing”. I (quite reasonably I think) did not reply to his string of questions and statements all starting with: “Oy nutter” and “Oy nutjob”, though I decided to leave when he decided to follow me. I did, however, point out that disablist attitudes were illegal and were, in fact, prosecutable.Discretion being the better part of valour I left, does anyone know what these people intended to do, apart from endangering motorists and pedestrians?
