Angela Malik's in Ealing opens.

We noticed Angela Malik's new deli/shop/eatery on The Green was open today. Has anyone tried it?

Yesterday morning, Angela Malik's deli/cafe/shop at The Green and The Grove corner was pretty busy. Good to see it taking off after a 'slowish' start - hope it does well, their samosas, lemon drizzle cake and various curry dishes are very tasty.

I walked by this morning and was given a leaflet advertising 'a free coffee to launch their new locally made artisan breads, croissants and muffins' It looked like it was doing a roaring breakfast trade.

Perhaps its early days still and that the Angela Malik eatery and enterprise will become busy and flourish - hope so anyway.

If the prices are like the one's in the Ealing shop they won't need many customers to survive.

Went past on four occasions yesterday and only saw a customer (actually two) in once.Looked sad really.

I understand what you mean Keith. It looks like any other 'fusion' sandwich bar. Did we expect too much? It certainly doesn't stand out against a sea of other places in Ealing Broadway.

My partner ( who is indian)  and I were interested to see this new place open but have to say it is a disappointment. It lacks focus. What kind of business is it ? If you  go to Subway, or Pret or costa you know exactly what they are offering. Angela Malik's lacks any 'wow' factor and although we visited hoping to buy something we didn't find it attractive enough to go inside. Shame really.

Arranged to meet a friend this morning at 11.30hrs so we waited outside the new Malik corner shop. During ten minutes waiting we noticed not many shoppers went into the Angela Malik deli and there were few staff in the shop. We were surprised 'cos it was busy in other nearby shops.

I bought my boyfriend an Angela Malik cooking course a couple of years ago. The ingredients are all provided and he came home with a small container of tasty food. The main issue is that you work in groups so don't prepare the whole meal yourself, this means you can miss out on some crucial part whilst chopping onions! He was also the only person there not in a couple!!He enjoyed it but would not want to do it again.

And gentlemen, do you get to eat the trainer's demonstration dishes and/or your efforts? If so, I think its well worth the fees.

I thought that perhaps £65 would buy a whole day (or at let half day) course given that it is in a classroom setting of 12 people. No, that's for TWO HOURS of 'training'.I'll stick to 'perfecting' by trial and error thank you.

Angela Maliks looks very nice but have you seen the prices of thew courses? £65 to learn how to cook Thai Green Curry? Er, no.....

Yes, the one on Regina Road.You can eat in - it's not a restaurant style of place more like a café but the food is lovely.

Absolutely, and their pakoras are lovely. In fact they are hard to fault but they,  understandably, get really busy.

Samosas at Rita's (5 star hygiene rating) in Southall are huge, tasty and 40p - you are absolutely right Ron. The gullible will always pay a premium.

You don't have to eat like that every day... but it can make a change from whatever you normally eat...Hopefully putting kitchens back in schools together with cookery lessons will mean that once again we will have more students who can at least cook an egg.

I'm looking at this as it approaches lunch-time!Lemon drizzle cake is one of the easiest cakes to make at home ...and you get the lovely smell of cooking cake drifting through the house.Funny how they deliberately push the smell of baking out of the bakeries in supermarkets and bakeries so that you feel hungry!I was rather hoping that I'd be able to find something to eat similar to Henry Dimbleby's Leon's or Carluccio's to take away at Angela Malik's.  I'd certainly be interested in cookery classes!

We walked by Angela Malik's corner eatery this morning and we offered some samples of their lemon drizzle cake and it was absolutely delicious. As we were already stocked-up with some Carluccio's cake slices we didn't but any at Angela's, but will definitely buy some of their lemon drizzle cake later on next week.

I popped in today at lunchtime as I fancied a curry & was curious. I found it strange. There was nothing approaching a chicken curry on offer unless you looked at the pre packed takeaways, and then there was only Thai (which wasn't what I wanted). It seems to be more of a lunch snack bar. I went to Green Mango Cafe and had a great Chicken Jalfrezi. I'm looking forward to cooking courses at Angela Malik. I'd be interested in that.

Funnily enough I just popped down to take a look during lunch.  The sandwiches (around £3) and curries (£5 - £7) seem reasonably priced but i didn't see portion sizes.  The cakes in the window looked nice but, unless my eyes deceived me, a not especially large piece of lemon drizzle was nearly £4!Attractive looking business though.
