House burglar alarms?

I've been reading much of the descriptions and pros/cons of burglar alarms, mainly from the manufacturers and installers, but I'd like a few opinions and experiences from others. Please advise. Thanks.

Best guard dogs we had when the parents had the pubs Gerry never had a need for burglar alarms, I assume the teeth are strong but luckily never been bitten lol, also usually good with kids although I'd never condone leaving any dog alone with kids

A good NACOSS installer should be able to do a factory reset if he has experience with the alarm system that you have.Check the NSI (NACOSS) website and call a few to see if they can help.http://www.nsi.org.uk/

We had a system installed a while ago, but after a while the window sensors started running out of battery etc. and we never managed to make contact with the installer.The problem is that the manufacturers give them the option to set "Installer's codes" without which we can't get into the system to reset the alarm, so now it just beeps every few hours and we can't use it - seems like just a cosy arrangement for the original installer to charge more money every time the batteries go (with the manufacturer's connivance - presumably so the installer uses their product).My question is, if we find another NACOSS Gold installer will he be able to get into the system without the other guy's codes?

If your neighbours have house alarm's or even dummy alarm bell box's screwed to the wall,then i would recommend Yes.

Buy a Doberman :-)They are OK until you try nailing them to the wall outside.Seriously, if you are buying an alarm use a NACOSS Gold installer, they are the trade body and you are assured of a job to meet stringent quality standards.
