The Forresters

We went there for the carvery yesterday lunchtime for Mother's Day. It was very impressive. Lovely staff and excellent service and the roast dinner was as good as home cooked. Was very pleasantly surprised and a far cry from the days of the awfully rude landlord who used to run the place. Will go back.

Thank you for the info Roy! I knew it was something complicated - this explains how it has managed to hold onto the Thai food unlike Fullers' Castle pub which has gone corporate and purged the good Thai food from its premises.

On my way there now.Sunday lunch,excellent.Thai food,excellent.Hotel rooms,pleasant although some rooms share toilets on hall and lots of stairs.Service at bar,sometimes good.Outside area beer garden,excellent.Can be very noisy sky sports etc.Prices of drinks,rather high for west Ealing.Similar prices to Ealing Park Tavern and they are likely to close soon.Can see some customers migrating to the Grosvenor when their refurbishment is complete but not me...

They are still running it and have been since November 2011 when Dean became manager. Fuller's bought the freehold from Enterprise Inns in February 2012, the lease remains with MC Bars. The only big difference apart from the Fuller's branding is they have to buy their beers from Fuller's rather than Enterprise Inns.

That's interesting Peter. I do hope the New Inn people return at some point. The beer and pub as a whole were much better IMO in that brief period when they ran it.

I think that you may find that the arrangement is more complex than expected. The premises are rented out to Fullers; Fullers is a tenant of the owners of the pub itself which I believe also own the New Inn, Kings Head, SECC, etc...

Unfortunately it is Fuller's now. Fuller's need some decent competition in the area. I have high hopes for the Grosvenor.

Is this now a fully fledged "Fuller's House" Selling their range of ales?It was a reasonable pub back in the 70s as a Courage house. Then it was for a short time in recent years even better as a freehouse with rotating range of ales. But a year ago it was carrying Fullers Branding. It's a pity some of the other Home Counties breweries don't take on a pub in Ealing (I havent' seen McMullens beer for a while now).

We go to The Foresters in Leighton Road and find the foods great - the carvery is very tasty, roast beef, pork, lamb, chicken, ham too. The pub has had an excellent re-furbishing and looks typically like an quality old Victorian one. We also pop-in for Thai and pints, they do a good range of Thai food - delicious and pleasant staff - a quality pub.
