Santa Maria

Visited Santa Maria finally,after hearing great things! Arrived at 6pm on Sunday evening(Mothers Day),and was prepared to wait for table but got one straight away and within 10 mins there were people waiting.We were served quickly by lovely staff,ordered Bruschetta to start,2 pizzas and glass of white wine.Drinks arrived,white wine was undrinkable,sent it back,Bruschetta arrived,burnt in parts so ate around it,and then the pizza arrived,warm,tasteless and undercooked!!!The whole experience was extremely disappointing and certainly won't be visiting again but pleased to cross it off our 'bucket list!'

I fully agree with Andy "Their bases are not crispy as that is not the Neapolitan way.  They have a soft, almost pancake like texture.  Some like it, some don't".Also the toppings can add lots of moisture content (e.g. vegetables), hence you could end up with a very soggy pizza if you choose too many. My favourite is the Margherita with a couple of slices of cured ham (put after the pizza comes out of the oven!).I have been there many times and always had good pizzas!!

Tut, tut, tut.If you don't give a business feedback 'there and then' they will never up their game. From all that I have read your experience was atypical and I feel sure a business with their reputation would have sought to dress the issues had they known about them at the time.I have no connection with them but used to lecture in customer service and retention.

With respect, instead of voicing a complaint and giving the business the opportunity to put things right you decided to come online and pan them.We are very lucky to have a quality establishment like Santa Maria in Ealing.  I can only say go back and give them another shot.I will say this about their pizza though given that you said it was undercooked:  Their bases are not crispy as that is not the Neapolitan way.  They have a soft, almost pancake like texture.  Some like it, some don't.  I'm definitely the former and wish I could go their more often!

The white wine was replaced with a glass of red which was slightly better,and by then the burnt bruschetta had arrived and to be honest we could see where this was going,and just wanted out of there! I know we should have complained but we had both been ill all week and really couldn't be bothered.

Pizza is not difficult, especially if you are supposedly a pizzeria.I trust that a significant concession was made to the bill or did you do the 'British thing' and not complain?

I take it you mean Santa Maria Pizza restaurant in St Mary's Road opposite Ealing Studios. Sorry to hear you were disappoionted with St Maria.
