I don't believe it !

Forgive my 'Meldrewism' but they're going to have to dig up the road again. After major disruption to traffic and shopping in Mattock Lane at St John's Parade just by St John's Church, a serious water leakage has appeared in the road. That part of the road has only just been reinstated to normal traffic, after major gas repairs for nearly four wweeks. Main water flow underground isn't complicated engineering - the Romans and Egyptians and Chinese have been doing it for centuries - can't we get it right - I really don't believe it! I'm gotta lie down in a darkened room now, forgive me.

Thames Water or whoever seem to have repaired the leak in the road. Let's hope its been done well.

I misunderstood Nigel's "its open again" words - ha ha. I think the Water Board will have to open the road up again, so soon after the major large hole when repairing the gas repairs.

I meant that the road is open to traffic, not open as in large hole in road.

The cable TV companies carelessness caused the major power outages on Boston Road when they breached the ducts carrying the high voltage cables. I wouldn't be at all surprised if digging up the gas main disrupted the water pipes.We lost power for two days some homes for almost a week. National Grid were excellent but the damage was so extensive they simply couldn't repair it quicker despite working 'round the clock'.

What are the odds against the gas men having caused the water leak? Minuscule, I should think.
