WE ARE ABOUT TO LOSE HALF OF OUR PARKING WHILST GAINING NINE NEW FLATS IF CPZ GOES THROUGH

I wanted to make people aware that the current CPZ consultation does not inform people of the whole picture. We have found out by calling and emailing, that our road (NORTHFIELD ROAD) will lose 50% of it's parking if the CPZ goes ahead, this will cause HUGE problems in the surrounding roads and they may have merrily been saying yes without having the full info. We are also gaining 9 new flats which will add to the burden.

Agreed Brian, I used the term 'residents' meaning ALL people(shop staff and dwellers) - perhaps 'community' is a better word to use - apologies, the English language isn't my strongest lingo. But the overall sentiments re CPZs remain - its NOT the best, but it serves the greater good of the community in the long run.

Again Gerry, councillors and officers use the term 'residents' when Community would be a better choice.  Shops and businesses are a part of the community in that one group supports the other.  I would like to see COMMUNITY PARKING PERMITS.

When CPZs were first introduced to Ealing, we were very much against them. Then as time went by, we couldn't park in our road at all because of students, shoppers, business people, commuters et al using up 'our' road spaces. Now, we welcome the CPZ in our neighbourhood, because its for the greater good of residents - its not perfect, but its the best in the circumstances.

Completely agree, the residents of our road are up for a fight, we do not want the CPZ here.

Anyone who lives around there knows that the roads are gridded so it's is easy to avoid the tiny road and pedestrian space of Northfield road. It does not really go anywhere so through pedestrians are highly unlikely.People have parked the way they do in that road since the arrival of the motor car. It's never been a problem, even when large trucks used premises at the Northcroft road end.Council officers particularly highways ones can be pedantic verging on anal.Most of the 'regulations' they work to are advisory and almost everything can be adapted.One example is in Hammersmith where yellow lines on street corners have been reduced to a minimum length in small terraced streets, to minimise parking space loss to residents yet still keep the corner clear for pedestrians and larger vehicles.Ealing and Hounslow have been using the maximum advised length but the motive is different. It is to allow their oversized fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles access to streets not suitable for their design.Don't let them use the same bull that they can baffle our none too bright councillors brains with.

I have posted this on another thread but please what can we do?On Northfield Road which runs from Northcroft Road to Northfield Avenue, cars have always been allowed to park on the pavements. It is a one way street and anyone who lives around there will lnow that it is perfectly safe to walk in the road, and when a car comes down it you just move to the side until it passess. For some reason without consultation of the residents, the council have decided that they will put a yellow line on one side, stopping residents from parking on the pavement. I have lived around the corner for 25 years and it has NEVER been a problem before. Is there a group forming to protest against this and the proposed parking zone?

Not sure whether it was as high as 50% but certainly lost parking spaces when zone HH was created six or seven years ago.  Added double yellows here and there on previously unmarked streets.  If they, the Council, thought certain parts of the streets should not be parked on, presumably for safety reasons, why did they only implement them when CPZ came in.
