Munsons coffee shop

I have never tried this coffee shop but lots of people I know swear by it saying it is the best in Ealing.So I decided to read the views from trip advisor and the response from customers was very worrying - rude staff, no people skills, no credit cards accepted etc.What are your views. Would you recommed I go there or should I give it a miss?By the way, what is its food hygiene rating?

I've long loathed Munsons for their smugness, all round rudeness and, to my taste, undistinguished food and drink but some people adore the place. You probably need to try it for yourself to see which side you're on.

Never actually seen any rudeness but there are notices warning that they reserve the right to so be.OTOH, the staff are clearly recruited for their looks** rather than their skills and this shows IMO.[** Don't believe me?  then you must have missed the help wanted ad which the owner was forced to withdraw a while back.]

I have no problem with cafés that don't take credit cards: when no one is spending more than a few quid, they can surely pay cash. If it goes through the till, then it's in the accounts.

No credit cards means they are unwilling to pay the 3-5% charged by card companies and banks to process the payments.Incidentally, and a little off topic, does everyone know that JustEat charge the take-away restaurants a whopping 11% of the price of a meal for their 'service'. I now always ask for a cash discount at restaurants using this arrangement.

Btw there's a very good cafe on the green. It got a 4and a half star rating in the London coffee guide. Name escapes me sorryCost as in the uxbridge rd Ealing Common make better than average espresso as well :-)

Does no credit cards mean they are avoiding tax?  If so then please do not use them. Too many ppl using services and not paying their way in this country!

Munsons darhhhhling as we affectionately know it !!!Don't use it really but have done and its okay when we have. I've always found their staff quite pleasant on the odd occasion we've been therePaperback I've already commented on in my own thread and more power to themAlas due to recently diagnosed health issue my fraternisation of such establishments must end, unless of course decaf is on offer or quality juices.My choice will always be the local independents ahead of the corporate big chain --- don't pay the big man!

Maybe a silly question, but is he not Andy? I always assumed that the place would be run by someone called Andy.  But no reason why not, Mr Kipling isn't real.Was there ever an Andy there?

My experience is that there is one individual who has a short fuse and can be very abrasive. He also used to run a coffee shop on Northfields. I don't think people should avoid Munson's because the offer is good. However, if you have an unpleasant experience with this individual, you may chose not to return.

I have been to Munsons a few times and i think it is ok but always seems a bit overpriced, especially the sandwiches.Electric coffee in the Broadway is fantastic, i only discovered it a month or so ago but the coffee is great and the banana, pecan and honey loaf divine!I also like the W7 Emporium, great coffee and fantastic food.

Been in Paperback once and the staff were very pleasant. Let me reiterate that I've not been to Munson's personally, only passing on the amusing anecdote from my physio.

The Electric near Ealing Broadway station does great coffee with a nice relaxed atmosphere - best coffee in Ealing. They use good coffee, right temperature and they know how to make it. Many of those serving coffee in the chains don't!

Munson's in St Mary's Road W5 is OK Rhys but nothing special imo. For the best coffee I believe Carluccio's in The Green W5 serves the very best - they offer two varieties, Napoli or Milano strong and robust or smooth and silky.Munson's food hygiene rating is 5 tested in June 2012.

Doesn't sound like the Munson's I know.Never had a bad visit, the cakes are wonderful as are the staff. No connection just an occasional happy customer.

I think it's the place where my physio went one day, asked for a decaff latte and was told to f*** off.
