Ealing Common parking
My wife and I went for a Valentines dinner at the excellent Charlotte’s Place last night. Arriving at 7.15pm, discovered that the CPZ operates until 7.30pm. Not having expected such a late time zone, there was no time to drive out of the zone to park, so for 15 minutes, I ‘ran the risk’. Guess what? Yes, at 7.22pm I got a ticket for parking in a residents parking zone.I will of course pay it, as technically it is correct but why is this zone timed so late when businesses like Charlotte's and The Grange are hoping for customers? Many of the houses in the area have off street parking and don’t need road spaces. One hour morning and one hour afternoon will stop the commuting parkers, so I wonder who made the decision to make it so long and late that it damages the businesses; local residents or Council Officers in a fudged consultation. I also wonder if the businesses themselves were consulted or whether the residents do not want successful businesses in their area.
