Best Italian restaurant in Ealing?

Which is the best Italian eatery in Ealing now? I have my favourite, but I'd like to hear from other experiences. Thanks.

Glad you liked Piccolo Italia, Gerry. If you enjoy seafood their linguine 'frutti di mare' is excellent; it  comes 'en papillote' (in a bag) which they set fire to! Good fun.

Mrs. T and I had lunch yesterday at Piccolo Italia(on The Green W5) and it was packed by 1pm - always a good sign. We had a glass each of house whitr with mixed olives and bread, while we studied the comprehensive menu. Decided on their day's blackboarded 'specials'- her chose pan fried sea bass plus salads, moi lobster with a rice mixture - both good. Chocolate fudge and tiramisu for puds. Tasty and pleased with the place - we'll go again soon.Undecided about La Cantina in Bond Street nearby - used to have Fadi as chef - he's now running the new La Rueda further up Bond St - and as the previous lady said the La Cantina staff are Polish, nothing wrong with that I guess. Still undecided.

I agree, Piccolo is excellent! I've had very good food at Terracotta too. Casa Roberta has a nice atmosphere if the proprietors are present but the food's not all that and the other staff can be beyond dozy. I wouldn't go there again. La Cantina does nice "Italian" food but I think the chef's actually Polish.

Agree, give Terracotta in Northfields a go, food always great. For a simple but excellent pizza you can't beat Santa Maria on St Mary's Road

ALEX, pleased to read your opinion of Picolo Italia. We've passed it often and only ever had a coffee there and been meaning to try it sometime. We're going to give it a go this weekend. Thanks.

I like Paolo's Ristorante (http://www.paolosrestaurant.co.uk/) which is located just behind Park Royal station. The owner (Stef Oddi) is a great host and entertainer (member of the Magic Circle) and the food and ambience is terrific!

Yes, Casa Roberta is very local to us and we've eaten there a few times. A quaint place - limited menu and wines - but generally good'ish. Like the place for morning coffees and Italian cakes. Roberta and her brother Mauro are from Rome - they're attentive and pleasant.

Terracotta on Northfield Avenue. The (somewhat temperamental) chef there is the real deal.I quite like the look of Casa Roberta on St Mary's Road. Anyone tried it?

I tried the new one called Piccolo Italia on New Year's Eve and was very impressed. It was reasonably priced too. A good edition to Ealing's growing culinary scene.
