Ealing Broadway Station

I am glad to read that Cllr Phil Taylor is now promoting Edwardian design values in his piece on Ealing Broadway Station. And to see his values have changed from those he outlined during the Arcadia and Dickens Yard discussions. I now realise that the new Crossrail trains and the consultation on the station design that officially ended today have been constructed to run under the radar. Where were the models? Where were the explanations? Where was the public engagement meetings. This is very important for Ealing.Why has it been kept so secret? Who's to blame? Are we being sold a pup?

"I now realise that the new Crossrail trains and the consultation on the station design that officially ended today have been constructed to run under the radar"Under the radar of the most significant rail infrastructure project in the country?The trains haven't been ordered yet, by the way.  Do you think they should share this idiotic obsession with the past, or be suitable for the second decade of the 21st century?By the way, any correspondence about the design aesthetics of Crossrail needs to be directed to City Hall, not Ealing Town Hall.  This might pose issues for Phil given the current incumbent there, but I'm sure his flair for fantasy will stand him in good stead.

There are four essential things I'd like to see in a new station.1 Escalators from street level to ticket hall level and from ticket hall level to train platform levels.2 I would love to see more daylight to the ticket hall.3 I want another entrance/exit, possibly to The Mall Uxbridge Road.4 As much frontage to allow for pick-up and drop-off to the existing front.5 The design of the street front of the station to be more in keeping with the existing 'feel'/'style' of the area.6 The ticket hall to be sound soothing(not with echos and noise(I don't know what the architecural phrase is).Please!
