Britain From Above

Apologies if you know about this website already, but I'm an enthusiast for old pictures, especially if they're related to where we live. I came across http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/ which is (I believe) an English Heritage site and constantly being updated. It carriers pictures from 1919-1953 and I've found it truly fascinating.I've been able to see how my road and house looked in 1936 and just found it a great thrill - hope you find of interest too. I know from posing the TFL Museum link previously that this is a common interest amongst many Forum members.

Glad you like folks - I've subscribed to the site as it appears they'll alert you as and when there are updates (which they say are continuous).I'm so blown away by the open space / greenery and saddened by the developments that we have in place today, but that's progress I guess...

Thanks, Bud.  I especially like this pic of the Wharncliffe Viaduct, the park, Brent Meadow and Manor Ct Rd.  Looking at the third arch from the right (and up a bit) one can just see the old bandstand in the park.  Fascinating.http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/image/epw035002?search=hanwell&ref=0

Interesting site. Good find, Bud.This shot is of interest to me as on the left you can see Beechmount Avenue and Cuckoo Dene beyond, but Gifford Gardens has yet to be built. I always wondered if there was a farm or dairy that remained on that site.http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/image/epw031245
