Unleaded 126.9

I thought petrol prices were slowly on the rise  again so was surprised to see unleaded at 126.9 today at Tesco Hoover building. Cheapest in London unless you know otherwise? If you have a long drive over xmas it may be worth a visit

Yes, in 1973, before the days of speed cameras but we got the number plate and he was prosecuted and I got back the full cost of the car (£30!).Never mind Ben, if you really want to see unidentifiable vehicles going through red lights pop down to Uxbridge Road any morning and watch the cyclists!

Yes it was 7/6d a gallon when I got my first car in 1971.The car only cost £60.Of course you could go out for a drive then and not crawl along in traffic everywhere.

My 1962 Mini Countryman (DOA 532) did around 30 to the gallon IIRC. Lovely little motor (all mod cons, floor starter, cords to open the door, sliding windows AND a heater) until some sod it a Mercedes jumped the lights and wrote it off :-(

Around 1962 my Saturday job was pumping petrol by the A1 in N Yorkshire, 4 gallons for 19s/10d IIRC.

96.9p (with  my 20p/litre Clubcard discount) at Tesco Hoover's. Funny to think that it was around 40p per GALLON when I started driving and I remember my dad moaning when it went up to 'five bob'.

57.95p is the duty per litre so if you look at the figures on that url it does seem that oil companies are passing on the reduced price of crude. What is iniquitous is the government being able to levy VAT not merely on the price of the product but on the price plus duty. IMO the great British public are far too tolerant in the face of government theft. Not all taxation is theft but VAT added to duty is. I suppose the same applies to drink and tobacco too.

I filled up for 112.9 at Wembley Tesco (by Ikea) on Saturday.  OK I did get 6p a litre off with my clubcard but still.  £55 filled up my focus which cost me nearly £70 not so long ago.

International oil prices are falling steadily and have been falling for some time now.  How come retail prices aren't falling as fast?  Someone's making monkeys out of us I think. Thank goodness we haven't got cars any more.

It seems there's a downward trend in petrol pump prices now - long overdue but since my wife and I gave up driving it doesn't matter to us. I hope for everyone's sake the prices of petrol continue to drop.

Supermarkets drop petrol and diesel prices. Asda has taken 2p off a litre of petrol and diesel. Unleaded will now cost no more than 120.7p per litre, while diesel will cost no more than 124.7p per litre, Tesco and Morrisons have now also announced a cut of up to 2p per litre on both fuels.

It's also worth keeping an eye on the filling station just past the iron bridge as you head toward southall, they drop their price 2 days a week, I generally check Boston manor then there depending in which is cheaper I then fill up

If you are really 'flush' then petrolprices.com lists one filling station in W5 as selling at £1.359 per litre.No point in naming it, as you would be mad to go there.

Asda has enforced a nationwide cap on the price of petrol at its petrol stations, meaning drivers will pay no more than 126.7p on petrol and 134.7p for diesel. Could it be a Christmas shopping loss leader?
