Shared maternity leave.

Is this a good proposal or will it be more difficult for small businesses to survive? Are the new maternity leave options a flexibility too far?

We have fewer bank holidays than just about every other country you care to name Gerry and I am sure small business operators take into account (unstatetdly) the likelihood of paying their prospective employees maternity leave payments. What about Jill in your scenario? Better she stays at home altogether and let's Jack do the work ?

Yes Keith, I have many opinions on this subject. I think there are far too many holidays already, especially Bank holidays. Giving yet more leave at maternity times is bad for business(it maybe good for families) but its not helpful to small operators who are striving to keep afloat let alone make a fortune. We seem to have lost the necessity to work and the will to work. The message should be:- "All work and no play makes Jack."
